Job Meaningfulness

Culture Boosting 100 in 100: Day 63

· Culture Boosting 100,Meaning

“Finally, I truly believe that each of us must find meaning in our work. The best work happens when you know that it’s not just work, but something that will improve other people’s lives.”

- Satya Nadella

The Why

People who find their work meaningful are more likely to find it engaging.

The Tips

Does your team member view their role as a job, a career or a calling?

• Job: When people view work as a job, they focus on its material benefits.

• Career: Those with a career orientation work for the rewards that career advancement brings,

such as greater self-esteem, increased power and higher social standing.

• Calling: Those with a calling orientation work primarily for the sense of fulfillment their work

brings them. They believe their work helps make the world a better place, which is its own reward.
