Organizational Meaningfulness

Culture Boosting 100 in 100: Day 62

· Culture Boosting 100,Meaning

“Having a higher purpose is more than just about profits. You actually end up making more profits in the long run because employees really are a lot more engaged and customers see the higher purpose in the company.”

- Tony Hsieh

The Why

Meaningfulness is more likely to thrive when employees understand the broad purpose of the organization.

The Tips

1. Clarify your organization’s purpose. Utilize collective creation where everyone works together to discover your organization’s strengths to use for social good.

2. Be authentic. People can easily spot hypocrisy. Ex:nurses who were told their hospital put patients first but were also told to discharge people as quickly as possible.

3. Keep clarifying the organization’s purpose. Bring up purpose in every conversation, decision, and problem your team faces.

4. Unleash the Energizer Teams. Energizer Team is a group of change agents that assist with culture change.
